The last part of the 3-part alumni homecoming on December 27, 2008 is actually our batch reunion. After the major part of the homecoming, other alumni have the option to leave since the major program is done ... or they have the option to stay and witness how batch 83 rocks!
Here, we will see what members of Batch 83 are made of! Dancing, singing, modeling --- anything goes! It will just be pure fun. We will rock the night away till midnight.
Global team will have a friendly competition with local team in singing and dancing. LA group (los angeles) for instance, of the global team will compete with our own LA team (lele apu). San Fernando valley group vs. San Fernando, Pampanga. Las Vegas boys vs. Fields Avenue part-timers (hehe, that's a joke).
Better start practicing now! We're 685 days away to the grandest alumni homecoming reunion!

Part II: The Program Proper
The second part of the alumni homecoming will be a one hour and forty five minute-show. It will start once the alumni are all settled in their seats. This will take a few minutes from the moment they enter the gym because they will be marvelling at what they will see. A tropical paradise inside the gym? Yes, it can happen, because Batch 83 does things differently!
The program will start with an Invocation. This is not a usual prayer uttered by a holy-looking member of the batch (haha), but a special audio visual presentation. The Philippine National Anthem follows, also another AVP. What follows is not the traditional welcome remarks from whoever, but a dance number. Speeches will be blended into the program without anyone feeling a bit bored with the series of two-minute speeches to be given by the president of HAU, the HAUAAI, and whoever wants to make a speech.
The turn-over of the symbolical key, the donation of an artwork to HAU, and the announcement of winners will be done with non-stop music and video going on.
You probably noticed that we will be using a lot of AVPs. You're right. And we will be needing two huge projection screens to do all these.

Part I: The Registration
Registration during the 17th HAU Grand Alumni Homecoming will be like no other --- it will be different, unique, fun, and full of activities.
It will be different because we will be employing computer students from HAU or other nearby schools (of course, we will give them a fee for doing this job for us). Registration will, thus, be a breeze and pleasant.
If Rodel Buan's idea of using swipe cards as tickets/invitations cum tokens pushes through, then it becomes unique. We also plan to use the swipe cards to buy food during the event (more on this when we get to the food part).
Most registrations are dull, boring, and quite annoying. We will change all those perceptions. Our registration will be a show in itself (again, more on this later).
It will be fun and full of activities. Aside from the show, foods will be available during the registration part. There will be lots of foods to choose from. There will be massage therapists on standby for those stressed by the holidays. We will revive some fun games we used to do during our earlier years.

It's A Unique Homecoming
We will be hosting the 17th HAU grand alumni homecoming in 2008. I witnessed five homecomings already --- the first was probably in 1998. That was followed by the one held at the Casino Filipino. Then Batches 79, 80 and 81's versions. All of those homecomings were great! But I thought, how can we make ours different? True to our batch vision of "making a difference," our version of the grand alumni homecoming must not only be different. It must be unique!
Let's start off with the general scenario.
Our version will have three parts. The registration, the program proper, and the Batch 83 reunion.
The registration part is already a show in itself. How? I will let you know after I discussed the details during the special batch meeting on February 24, Saturday, 6PM at the Lifegiver Foundation Bldg.
The program proper is a one hour and forty five-minutes show. Forget those boring speeches. They will be a thing of the past. We will still have speeches by the HAU president, HAUAAI president, and other presidents --- but they will be short and sassy. Two minutes each --- no more, no less.
The last part is where we get wild ... and sentimental. This will be our show. A chance for us to show what we're really capable of. We will have dance numbers from both global and local teams, song numbers from our batchmates who can make Simon Cowell end the search for the current American Idol, and more!

It's A Special Homecoming
The 17th HAU Grand Alumni Homecoming will be special. Not only because our batch is hosting it (haha), but because it's Holy Angel University's 75th Founding Anniversary.
What can we possibly do to make 2008 extra special, different, and meaningful?
I'm thinking of the batch sponsoring a university-wide logo-making contest this year (2007) that will best illustrate our alma mater's diamond jubillee. We can donate the logo to the administration and use it, as well, for our various marketing and official correspondences and paraphernalia.
Zette Yturralde also mentioned before that we can ask our batchmate, artist par-excellence Norman Tiotuico, to do a special artwork which we can give to HAU as an official batch gift. Norman, by the way, has done an awesome artwork at the back of the Main Bldg, as well as one located inside the Kapampangan Studies Center. Don't forget to visit these artworks when you get the chance to drop by HAU. It will make you proud to be a member of Batch 83.
Of course, our version of the grand alumni homecoming, itself, will be special. Makes me wonder if we can ask HAU and the alumni association to share in the cost of hosting the homecoming event.

Let's Start the Ball Rolling
It's 23 months away to the 17th HAU Grand Alumni Homecoming. So, where will you be on December 27, 2008, a Saturday? I hope you will be with us as we celebrate a special and unique homecoming celebration. Special because it's our alma mater's 75th founding anniversary. Unique because it's a homecoming like no other.
I have several ideas going on inside my mind right now, and I thought maybe I can organize them better through this blog ... and at the same time, share them with you.
I will be posting those ideas and other plans for that homecoming. Of course, I will be entertaining your ideas and suggestions, as well.
